Played at the Moresby Street Centre in Kensington on the 8th & 9th of October. This tournament is a part of the: 2011 Yulgilbar-Think Big Australian Chess Grand Prix and the CAWA Open Grand Prix. The number of entries for this tournament showed some improvement. Perhaps, we have turned the corner, and can look forward to bigger and better tournaments in the future. Dave Dempster won all of his games to finish first by a margin of 1.5 points! He may not have won many weekenders in recent times, but he certainly did it in style this time. Eddy Seah, Akef Saleh and George Carolin-Unkovich all shared second place. This was a particularly good result for George. His results have steadily been improving, but this looks like a break-through result. All of the other prizewinners performed creditably, with Robert Hvistendahl and John Summerfield showing out.
