The 2016 Harris Edwardes competition received a total of nine team entries and was held at the North Woodvale Primary School over two Sunday afternoons in October. Four teams entered the Open, three teams in the B division and two teams in the C division. The same format was used again from the previous year. All players played exactly four games over the two weekends. A different type of tournament was held in each division. The results are included in tables at the end of the report. These tables show all the participants in each team.
In the Open division teams participated from Metro, Perth and Southern Suburbs(two teams). With four teams it was possible to play the event in the traditional format with round robin preliminary matches then a final round to determine final placings. Congratulations to the Southern Suburbs A1 team for convincingly winning both the preliminary rounds and the final match.
In the B Division teams participated from Perth and Southern Suburbs(two teams). In order to avoid a bye it was not possible to have one team play another. Over the four rounds the first two players played against the top two players from each of the other two teams and the next two players played the lower two players from each of the other two teams. The competition was decided on total game score and Southern Suburbs won the event with 13.0 from 16.
In the C Division teams participated from Perth and Southern Suburbs. The format for this competition consisted of 4 matches with players having a game against each player in the opposing team. The competition was decided on match points (a point for winning the most games against the other team) and in the event of a tie would have been decided on game points. Congratulations to the Perth team for their win over Southern Suburbs. Each round was drawn 2-2 with the exception of round 3 when Perth managed a 4-0 victory.
Congratulations to the winning teams and thank you to all those players that organised teams and participated. Trophies will be awarded after the Christmas Lightning event on December 11th.
