The convincing winner of the tournament was Pranav Senthil Kumar (South Perth Primary School), with a perfect score of 9/9. Pranav dominated the tournament and won his critical Round 5 game against Kundan Dharmapuri (Trinity College), who finished outright 2nd with 8/9. Vinura Elvadura (Wembley Primary School) took a slightly different path from the other top scoring players � after losing 2 of his first 5 games, he then proceeded to win four games on the trot to reach 7/9. Given a choice between two trophies, Vinura chose to take 1st Under 10, allowing Nao Kito (South Perth Primary School) to claim 3rd place with 6.5/9. It was excellent to see 10 entrants under the age of 8. Of these, the standout performer was Yonal Sandira De Vas Gunawardhana (Caladenia Primary School), who scored an amazing 6/9 to win the Under 8 prize. The Schools Trophy was handily won by South Perth Primary School, with 9 of their students entering the tournament and two of them finishing among the top 4. Although there were some issues with noise levels in the hall, the players seemed to enjoy the tournament in general. The tournament was won by FM Patrick Gong (Chisholm Catholic College), who dominated from the start to win with a perfect score of 6/6. His closest rivals were Ignatius Yap (Kennedy Baptist College) and Safiyya Aljunied (Willetton Senior High School) who both finished on 5/6. Given a choice of prizes because of a high tiebreak, Safiyya took home 1st in the Under 16 division, allowing Ignatius to claim 2nd place in the Under 18s. Other notable performances were that of Ramudu Rathnayake (Australind Senior High School) who scored 4/6 to win 1st for the Under 14 division, and Victor Sun (Perth Modern School) who finished outright 4th with 4.5/6. The Secondary Schools Trophy was convincingly won by Leeming Senior High School, with a huge score which nearly doubled that of the 2nd placed Willetton Senior High School. Chisholm Catholic College came from behind in round 6 to snatch 3rd place. Despite some issues with noise in the playing hall, there were still relatively few disputes and the games were all played in good spirit.
