The 2017 State Allegro Championship was held on Sunday 19th March at the Leeming Primary School as a nine round Swiss event. There were 35 players with a wide range of strength who had a challenging day of chess. The games were played in a friendly spirit making the work of the Arbiter very easy.

The event was won by Tristan Boyd with a score of 8.5/9.0. Second place was shared between Yita Choong and Syakir Shazmeer on on 7.0. Although only one female player participated, Kathryn Hardegen won the Women�s Title with an excellent score of 6.5 and fourth overall. The Seniors Title was won by Alan Wolstencroft with a score of 5.5.
