The 2017 WA Closed Chess & Reserves Chess Championships (ACF & FIDE rated - arbiter Rob Maris) was played at North Woodvale Primary School (Perth Chess Club venue) from the 21st May to 9th July. The Closed Format was an 8 player all-play-all and the Reserves Format a 7 Round Swiss, for all players not in the Closed.
The time control was 90 minutes, plus 30 seconds added per move. Congratulations to Igor Butsenko who won the Closed with 5.5/7 ahead of Derwent Maggs who was second on 5/7. Congratulations also to Craig Kinsman who won the Reserves on 6.5/7, with Gordon Dunlop and Alex Janceski equal 2nd on 4.5/7, Fred Maris was first U1600 on 4/7. Craig Kinsman and Ned Tomic share the Seniors title whilst Natalie Maris gets the Womens title. Thank you to each of you for participating, I trust that you enjoyed the slower and (generally) higher than usual standard games � even if like me you had little points to show for it!
