After last being played in 2017, the South West Open made a welcome return in 2021. Play took place at a wonderful venue - the Evedon Lakeside Retreat in Burekup, just outside of Bunbury. Nestled by the side of a lake, as your position was falling to pieces you could gaze out over the peaceful water and enjoy the warmth of the open fire. Five South West residents were joined by ten players from Perth for some hard fought chess games and an enjoyable time was had by all. Thank you to Ben Coleman from the Bunbury Chess Club for promoting the event locally. Prizes Open 1st: Tim Hare (5.5/6); 2nd: Edward Calado (5.0/6). U/1900 =1st: Dylan Gough and Sanjay Mukhedkar (3.5/6). U/1550 1st: Sanjay Mukhedkar (3.5/6); =2nd: John Prince, Varun Mukhedkar and Morgan Cumming (3.0/6).
