2022 Xmas Blitz Tournament

The final Grand Prix tournament for 2022 was the Xmas Blitz held at the Saint George Hotel, Innaloo on Sunday, 11th December.

The eleven round tournament consisted of five rating divisions: Open, Under 1850, Under 1550, Under 1000 and Under 500. A total of 29 players took part spread roughly equally throughout the five divisions. The winner of the Open was Yihe Fu (Rebo) with a perfect score of 11/11. Second in the Open was Rui Gen Ten with 9/11. In the under 1850s Trent Gulley was first with 6/11 narrowly ahead of Stijn Prompers with the same score but a lower Buchholz. Ironically the top two Under 1550 players had higher scores than the top two players in the Under 1850. Eamon Harris was first in the Under 1550s with an excellent score of 7.5 which included wins against Open division players, Andrew Hardegen and Rui Gen Teh; Dylan Gough came second in the Under 1550s with 6.5/11. In the Under 1000s Kobe Wu was first with 5.5/11 followed by Seth Chong with 5.5/11 (lower Buchholz). The Under 500 was won by newcomer Ashvin Balavignan with 5/11, a good result in such a strong field. Second in the Under 500s was Aaron Tun with 3/11.
