2004 WA Grand Prix

For the 2004 WA Grand Prix there was an overall average of 20.3 players per tournament (down from 2003’s 25.9 & 2002’s 23.4) with the SW Open again the best supported (29 players). While the number of players entering was probably much the same as previously, many chose to play in fewer events (possibly because of the WA State Championship being played on 9 Sundays). Moreover only 6 events were staged this year with the cancellation of the Kingsley Open.

Special mention should be made of the success of 14 year old Tom Donadson from the Albany-Denmark region who not only fronted up to all 6 events but comfortably won the Major Section & in fact came 2nd overall. It is always pleasing to see players from outside the metro area competing and they certainly showed their ability in the Xmas Open, gaining 4 of the 8 prizes.

EVENTS: Perth, SW, Foundation Day Opens, Gufeld Cup, Willetton & Christmas Opens.
