On Sunday, 19th September a Blitz tournament was held at the University of Western Australia in the E-Zone building. There were two separate tournaments an Open (with four rating sections) and an Under 800. The former had 26 players and the latter 24 players.
Open Tournament
The eleven round Open Division was a fairly strong group with four players rated over 2000. Junior players dominated all four rating divisions. The Open was won by Yihe Fu (Rebo), (14 years old) with a perfect score of 11/11. The Under 1850 section was won by Oscar Gao (12 years old) with an excellent score of 8/11. The Under 1550 section was won by Ishaan Barbare (13 years old) with 6/11 and the Under 1200 section was won by Eamon Harris (9 years old) with 6/11. A terrific day for our junior players. Just in case you are wondering the majority of players in this tournament were adults; obviously not their day!!

Under 800 Division
This division was specifically designed for our junior players with lower ratings who wanted to experience a Blitz tournament. All the players were Primary school students except for two secondary school students. The tournament was dominated by two Primary school players Hardy Dai and Jayden Song. They established themselves as joint leaders fairly early on in the tournament and it was a neck and neck race to the finish line. In the end both players finished on 10/11 and Jayden won with a higher Buchholz score.
