The 2023 South West Open in Margaret River was the best attended in a generation. Some helpful advertising in the local newspapers (see below for a couple of newspaper articles) and even on the Bunbury radio, saw 41 players take part. Congratulations to Marc Vlietstra with a perfect 6 points score, he is the South West Open champion. The story of the day though was seven-year-old Carter Kerr, finishing second with 5 points and a couple of big scalps - well done Carter. The Country Championship is shared between John Prince of Margaret River and Michael Molenaar of Bunbury - surely the start of a rivalry. As usual, an enjoyable evening was spent at the Settlers Tavern on Saturday watching the All Blacks belt the Wallabies yet again. Report kindly provided by the SW Open Organiser Ian McAteer. |
